Another opportunity to support the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund!

9TH ANNUAL BASKETS FOR BEN FUNDRAISING EVENT, MAY 17, 2019

The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund is proud to announce our Ninth Annual Baskets for Ben fundraiser, to be held on May 17, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., at the Queensbury Hotel, 88 Ridge Street, Glens Falls, NY.   Auctioneer Mike Smith of Cherry Tree Auctions in Greenwich will guide our event, conducting a live auction of valuable theme baskets donated by local residents and businesses.    We are raffling a spectacular Wheelbarrow of Wine valued at $750 put together by Hope Rosati & Friends, and a fabulous custom-made Adirondack Fire Pit forged by Monahan Metals of Glens Falls and valued at $500.

We’ve gratefully paired once again with Glens Falls radio station WFFG “Froggy” 100.3 as our radio broadcast sponsor and LOOK TV of Saratoga Springs, as our television network sponsor.

Tickets cost $20.00 per person which include a great evening with delectable appetizers, desserts, a cash bar, door prizes, gift baskets and entertainment by the talented Kyle Lewis and his guitar!  Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling 518 792-4514 or purchased at the door.

BASKETS FOR BEN benefits the BEN OSBORN MEMORIAL FUND, a regional non-profit 501 C 3 organization which was created in loving memory of our CPL Benjamin D. Osborn of Queensbury.   Ben was killed during combat operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan on June 15th, 2010 while serving in the United States Army during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ben’s Fund supports children with need in conjunction with 50 schools in Warren, Washington, Saratoga and Essex Counties by providing purchased goods and services including electronics, clothing, bedding, food, tutoring, school supplies, eyeglasses, transportation costs, field trip admission expenses, etc.   Additionally, the Fund awards 20 scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors from ten local school districts.  We also donate household and personal care items to 12 local food pantries.

Ben’s Fund has so far helped over 10,000 children.  At Christmas and Thanksgiving, Ben’s Fund adopts students, families and local organizations for gift giving, food and cheer.  During the 2018 holiday season, over $15,000 of food and gifts were donated to local children and families with need.  Additionally, we provide clothing changes, healthy snacks, blankets and head lice treatment kits to nurses at elementary schools.  We offer a literacy program for providing books to kids anytime and all the time, through 20 local Ben’s Book Stations with our most recent stations built in North Warren School District, at Jackson Heights Elementary and at the Moreau Rec Center!     Our seventh initiative provides a 17-item personal hygiene kit to emerging teens.  To date, over 1,000 kits have been distributed to schools.

It is our mission and hope that the values of discipline and pride will be encouraged and passed on through Ben’s Legacy.  In honoring Ben Osborn, whose selfless sacrifice and service to our country has inspired us, we wish to help by “Giving Kids a Little Lift.”   We welcome all and ask your help to continue our mission of helping local children with need.  We are a charitable 501 C 3 tax exempt organization with no administrative costs.   100% of proceeds go directly to those we serve, our children.  To participate, contact William D. Osborn, President, Ben Osborn Memorial Fund at benosbornfund@gmail.com, or call 518 792-4514.
