I saw the first "Smile" film a couple years ago, and was pleasantly surprised! It wasn't that bad. For a first time filmmaker, Parker Finn created a decent film that tackled the issues of trauma & suicide. Not easy subjects to tackle in motion pictures (let alone in real life). Yes the film had some cliché horror moments and forced jump scares and ran a bit long, but it was an overall a decent feature film debut for Finn!
Fast forward two years later and we have a sequel: "Smile 2"! I'm not a huge fan of sequels or franchises but this one isn't too bad. As a matter of fact, I'd rate it about the same! Naomi Scott gives an incredible & unforgettable performance of a famous pop star who's dealing with the aftermath of drug & alcohol addiction, trauma and dealing with the chaos she has caused around her! I won't say too much about the film, but it's safe to say if you liked the first film, you'll most likely enjoy this too. It does drag on too long and there are forced jump scares, but overall the rewards outnumber the misses.
