Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert Bring 'Choosin' Texas' to Number One

There's no doubt that 'Choosin' Texas' is one of the break-out hits of 2026.  Ella Langley takes the lead with friend Miranda Lambert on back-up.  Ella and Miranda had a blast writing the song at a writer's retreat with Luke Dick and Joybeth Tayler.  Apparently, the idea was born from Miranda telling a crazy story about getting pulled over (with Texas plates on her car) with her dog in the passenger seat, and a kangaroo in the back.  This might sound a bit unusual, but Miranda is an animal lover, and works to help all animals stay safe through the 'Mutt Nation Foundation'.  Anyway, after Miranda tells the story, Ella spoke up to the other writers in the room - directing her comment at Miranda- and said 'She's From Texas, I Can Tell'.  From there, they knew that line could be the starting point of a hit!

The idea morphed into a song about a woman who lures a man away from his current love interest. The writers thought that describing the woman as a man-stealing Texas gal, who two-stepped away with someone else's boyfriend, was a good direction to steer the story. In all, the song was written in roughly 30 minutes and has turned into one of the biggest hits of 2026.

Ella on Miranda:

“I’ll tell you what, I’ve been such a massive fan of Ms. Miranda Lambert, and it’s been the coolest thing to get to become friends the last couple years. I mean, come on. You just look up to her. She’s a legend; she’s an icon. She’s an incredible songwriter, and I’ve always wanted to write a song with her."

Fun Fact: Did you know that Miranda Lambert helped Morgan Wallen write 'Thought You Should Know' as a message to his mother?
