The Twisters Movie Joins Elite List Of Country Music Movies
The first Twister movie in 1996 featured a touch of Country Music, most notably Shania Twain’s ‘No One Needs To Know’. However, the stand alone sequel Twisters movie from 2024 is fully loaded with Country Music from The Red Clay Strays, Jelly Roll, Shania Twain, Breland, Tyler Childers, Kane Brown, Bailey Zimmerman, Lainey Wilson, Megan Moroney, Warren Zeiders, Conner Smith, Tucker Wetmore, Thomas Rhett, Miranda Lambert and Luke Combs. Combs’ hit ‘Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma’ was actually released to radio and landed at Number One!
According to the Academy of Country Music, “Twisters: The Album, features an unprecedented 29 original tracks from esteemed and diverse Country artists, marking it as the first film soundtrack since 1980's Urban Cowboy to showcase a completely original Country Music compilation.” -- Ironically, Urban Cowboy never received the honor!?
In recognition of the great publicity and promotion this movie dedicated to Country Music, Twisters is this year’s winner of the ACM Film Award, inspired by Tex Ritter, which recognizes an outstanding TV movie, series or feature film released during the preceding calendar year which prominently features country music. The honor will be presented at the special ACM Honors Awards Show on August 20, 2025.
In case you’re wondering, According to Billboard, Tex Ritter was the star of many Western films in the 1930s and ’40s. He also had numerous country hits from the ’40s into the ’60s, including 'I’m Wasting My Tears on You,' 'You Two Timed Me One Time Too Often' and 'I Dreamed of a Hill-Billy Heaven.' Ritter was the father of John Ritter, the late star of Three’s Company. Tex Ritter earned induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and became one of the founding members of the Country Music Association.
