This is the third Capital Region CVS to close since 2023
In less than a month, CVS will close the doors of its pharmacy in Troy's Frear Building forever. The store, located at 49 4th Street will officially shut down on June 26th. In speaking to News 10, CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault explained the reasons for the store's closure:
Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions. Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community.
Thibault says store employees will be offered jobs at other CVS locations in the area. In 2023, the pharmacy chain closed its stores at 153 Central Avenue and 1026 Madison Avenue.
Any existing prescriptions will be transferred to the CVS at 461 2nd Avenue.
