Closure is to replace a culvert in Hartford.
If you take Route 196 through Washington County to get between Hudson Falls and Hartford, you will need to seek a new route between the two towns starting Monday, August 4th.
The New York State Department of Transportation is announcing that the road will be shutting down in Hartford for a period of approximately 6 weeks, while crews replace a culvert.
A signed detour will be in place between Shine Hill Road, otherwise known as County Route 19, and State Route 40 in South Hartford. Only local traffic will be allowed beyond the closure area. Motorists are to expect delays and to work extra time into their schedule for travel through Washington County.
The closure is expected to take 6 weeks, and is weather dependent.
