Just did a sportscast this past weekend in New Haven, Connecticut at the NE 10 Outdoor track and field championships. It was a 2 day event that featured some of the best athletes in Division 2. One of the highlights was seeing Southern Connecticut State University javelin thrower Jordan Davis who recently broke the NCAA D2 record for the javelin in Austin, Texas. Just about a week prior to the NE 10 Outdoor championships, Jordan set an overall NCAA record in the javelin that includes D1 athletes. What made it even more special for the people in that area of Connecticut, is that Jordan is a local product from nearby Wallingford, CT. There were quite a few more highlights, but one of the most satisfying things is being able to meet a lot of the parents of the athletes participating in these events. It's always nice to see how proud they are of their kids. It was also fun to see some athletes from nearby College of Saint Rose competing in this tournament.
