Two roads that help connect with Washington County communities are slated to be reconstructed starting Monday.

UPDATE: This article has been updated to include the town highway department's scheduled closure of Old West Road and Palmer Road the week of April 28th.

The construction season is starting up, and the Town of Moreau is warning that tworoads that are well-travelled in the town will begin a reconstruction project on April 28th for an extended length of time.

The construction projects will take place on Saratoga County Routes 27 and 28, known as Bluebird Road and Fort Edward Road respectively.

The Bluebird Road project focuses on the stretch between Gansevoort Road (State Route 32) and Route 9, and the Fort Edward Road stretch will cover William Street on the edge of the Village of South Glens Falls and Bluebird Road.

According to Saratoga County, the contractor plans to work one lane at a time and may be working on multiple locations at the same time.  It will involve "full depth road reconstruction, asphalt mill and fill work, drainage work and some pedestrian crossing work."  Motorists are urged to expect delays during the course of the project, which is estimated to last 10 weeks.

Bluebird Road carries Saratoga County Route 27 and is used frequently by motorists traveling between Hudson Falls and Route 9 in Moreau.  Fort Edward Road, as the name suggests, connects Fort Edward to South Glens Falls.

In addition, the Town of Moreau Highway Department is closing Old West Road and Palmer Roads on the southern end of the town from April 28th to May 1st.  The roads will be closed to all through traffic, with only local traffic, emergency personnel and school buses being permitted onto the roadway.  Local residents are asked to plan for delays.
